sti-P3® pre-engineered tanks provide a cost effective solution for corrosion protection. "p3" stands for the three components of the tank protective system. The three components of this system are: electrical isolation, protective coating, and cathodic protection. Electrical isolation is achieved by installing dielectric bushings or flange isolators, which are inserted into every tank opening. The protective coating is chemical-resistant, and protects the carbon steel from corrosive soil conditions. This coating also reduces the amount of protective current needed for cathodic protection. The last component, cathodic protection, is achieved using weld on sacrificial anodes attached to the tank. These anodes meet NACE standards for corrosion protection.
This cathodically-protected steel tank set new standards for corrosion protection way back in 1969. Since then, its design has been proven through more than 250,000 installations.
